Mr Jon Palmer

Mr Palmer is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist expertise in knee surgery, offering personalised care for patients with a broad range of knee pathology. He is a partner at Grosvenor Orthopaedic Partners, and his private practice is based in Winchester and Central London.

Jon Palmer trained in London and Oxford, completing specialist orthopaedic training in the Wessex region. He has undertaken international fellowships in New Zealand and visited leading knee centres across Europe. This training included primary and revision knee replacement, robotic-assisted surgery (MAKO), knee ligament reconstruction, peri-prosthetic fracture management, and joint preservation surgery.

Jon’s NHS practice is based at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he performs a high volume of knee joint replacements and manages a comprehensive range of knee conditions, in addition to treating upper and lower limb trauma.

At home, life is lively – He lives near Romsey with his wife, four daughters and nine pets, so there’s never a dull moment!!

• Qualifications: FRCS(Tr&Orth), DPhil(Oxon), MBBS, BSC(hons)
• Read medicine at Royal Free & University College Medical School and undertook core surgical training in the London Deanery
• Completed higher specialty training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the Wessex Deanery
• PhD in Musculoskeletal Science at the University of Oxford with a thesis entitled “The Role of Surgery in Early Osteoarthritis of the Knee”. His research focussed on predictors for progression in osteoarthritis and outcomes from high tibial osteotomy surgery
• Dual fellowship trained:
  • International Sports Injury Fellowship, Unisports, Auckland
  • International Arthroplasty Fellowship including MAKO robotic knee replacement surgery, North Shore, Auckland
• Awarded the BOA international travelling fellowship, visiting multiple specialist knee centres in Germany and France.
