Mr Gerald David has been employed as Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust since October 2017.

He is an experienced surgeon in minimally invasive general and colorectal surgery. He combines specialist clinical expertise with a calm, personalised approach, ensuring that each patient receives clear advice and understands their treatment options.

He obtained his medical degree from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India which consistently ranks within the top 3 medical universities in India. He had his surgical training within Mersey Deanery, prior to completing two RCS accredited fellowships at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust (laparoscopic and robotic fellowship) and at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospitals (Peritoneal Malignancy fellowship).

He also holds a higher degree in Hospital Management from Keele University and is the Clinical Lead for Colorectal Surgery at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. He regularly contributes to teaching, training and professional development within Surgery.
