Dr Sally Louden

After a conventional start as a junior doctor, I developed a love of Women’s Health whilst at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. I completed my DRCOG, FFP and became a IUD fitter and I qualified as a General Practitioner, with additional qualifications – the Diploma of Geriatric Medicine and Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

In 1993, whilst working at the Jean Hailes Centre in Melbourne, I took my Australian Diploma in Menopausal Medicine. On returning to the UK, I completed my British Diploma in Menopausal Medicine and then, in 2017 when the qualification first became available, I became a British Menopause Society recognised Menopause Specialist. I have been a Menopausal Medicine Trainer since 2018 and Family Planning Trainer since 2003.

In 2021, alongside Dr Sam Davies, I co-founded Everything Menopause, a Hampshire-based holistic menopause clinic offering evidence-based 1-to-1 treatment and advice. We also offer bespoke training and education for businesses and organisations, to help them fully understand the menopause, its impact on the individual and their workplace and how they can be effectively supported. And we are regularly invited to be guest expert speakers at numerous events.

I have been working as a NHS GP in Hampshire for over 30 years, helping women with all aspects of their healthcare at every point in their lives, but with a particular focus on hormones, contraception and the menopause. I aim to help all women through their Menopause by educating and empowering the individual woman.

I run a freely available schedule of Menopause teaching events for GPs and Practice Nurses to uplift the care given to all women.
