Immediate Access to Private Knee MRI Scans

Pain in and around the knee can be awkward and frustrating, preventing you from getting on and enjoying life. You should consider getting an MRI scan of your knee if you’ve been experiencing problems that have lasted longer than a few weeks. A knee MRI scan will deliver detailed images of your knee, including the surrounding muscles, tissues, and the knee joint itself. With no waiting lists and self-referral available, we can offer an appointment at short notice, at a time that suits your busy schedule.

What is a Private Knee MRI Scan?

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which is a way of taking pictures inside the body using magnetic fields and radio waves. It’s a safe, painless, and non-invasive procedure that captures high-quality images inside the body. Unlike X-rays, MRI doesn’t use potentially harmful radiation.

During a knee joint MRI scan, the radiologist will use the scanner to take cross-section images of your knee showing the structures within it, including:

  • Joint capsule

  • Patella ligaments

  • Meniscus

  • Tibial and femoral condyles (the rounded end of the lower leg bones)

What Symptoms Would Prompt a Knee MRI Scan?

If you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms, an MRI scan of your knee could help diagnose the problem and plan treatment:

  • Joint pain

  • Recurring muscle pain

  • Difficulty walking

  • Weakness or instability

  • Swelling around the knee

  • Popping or crunching sounds

What Can a Knee MRI Scan Detect?

Your knee pain may be the result of an injury, or it could indicate another condition. Some of the possible issues the scan can detect are:

  • Joint weakness

  • Fractures

  • Osteoarthritis and other degenerative diseases

  • Infections

  • Tumours

  • Fluid build-up in the knee

  • Damage to ligaments, meniscus, or soft tissue

  • Tendon and ligament tears
