3T MRI: The Gold Standard in Diagnostic Imaging

At Medicana Winchester, we are proud to lead the UK with our revolutionary 3T MRI technology. Standing for “3 Tesla MRI,” this advanced technology provides superior image clarity and detail, which is crucial for accurately diagnosing a wide range of conditions. If you are seeking 3T MRI in Winchester, Medicana is your trusted provider for comprehensive and accurate medical imaging.

Unrivalled Precision and Speed

Our 3T MRI scanner operates at a magnetic field strength of 3 Tesla, which is double the strength of traditional 1.5T MRI machines. This enhanced power allows us to capture the subtlest details, empowering our radiologists to make more accurate diagnoses and create effective treatment plans. The higher resolution images also mean shorter scan times for you, making your experience more comfortable. We understand that waiting for results can be stressful, which is why most scan results are available within one working day.

MRI FAQs: Addressing Your Concerns

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which is a way of taking pictures inside the body using strong magnetic fields and radio waves. It is a safe, painless and non-invasive procedure that captures high-quality images of the body’s internal structures.

If you’re experiencing symptoms or have doubts about your health, a scan can provide reassurance. If there’s a problem, early diagnosis helps ensure you get the best care possible.

Here’s what to expect: Choose your location and scan type, then submit a self-referral form. Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. Receive a full report and images within three days.

With our Patient Image Portal, you can view, share, and download your images on your laptop, tablet, or mobile. You’ll have full access to your images for one year, eliminating the need for CDs.

MRI scans are generally very safe and don’t involve any radiation exposure. However, certain metallic implants or devices may be incompatible with MRI. Inform your healthcare provider of any medical implants or devices you have before the scan.

You’ll typically need to remove any metal objects, including jewelry and clothing with metal fasteners. Depending on the type of scan, you may also need to fast or avoid certain medications. Our team will provide you with specific instructions before your appointment.

The duration varies depending on the area being scanned and the number of images required. It can range from 15 to 60 minutes.

MRI scans are generally avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy. If you’re pregnant or think you might be, inform your healthcare provider before scheduling an MRI.

Some metal implants may be safe for MRI, but others can pose a risk. It’s crucial to inform your healthcare provider of any implants or devices you have before the scan.

The scan itself is painless. However, you’ll need to lie still inside the MRI machine, which can be noisy. Earplugs or headphones may be provided to reduce the noise.

If you’re anxious about enclosed spaces, let our team know. We can offer strategies to help you feel more comfortable, or in some cases, sedation may be an option.

The 3T MRI offers double the power of a standard MRI, producing clearer images and faster scan times.
