Mr Struss trained at the University of Hamburg Medical School in Germany, where he completed his specialist urological training. His training included placements in Zurich and Guildford, culminating in his Specialist Urological Training certification in Hamburg in 2014.

He holds a Medical Doctorate from the University of Berlin, Charité, where he conducted research on acute vascular toxicity of chemotherapy in testicular cancer patients. Additionally, he earned a PhD from the University of Portsmouth, focusing on translational medicine in urological cancers after completing a uro-oncological research fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Since joining the University Hospital of Southampton in 2018, Mr Struss has also contributed as a Senior Lecturer, sharing his expertise and advancing research in urology. In 2022, he joined the Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust, continuing his dedication to both clinical practice and research.

Mr Struss is an accomplished researcher with several high-impact, peer-reviewed publications in the field of urology. His work has received accolades, and he has contributed to book chapters on uro-oncological topics.
