About Mr Robert Chessman

Mr Robert Chessman is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon who specialises in diseases of the ear and hearing (otology) in both adults and children, in addition to a wide range of general ENT conditions. He works as an NHS Consultant at Portsmouth University Hospitals NHS Trust and privately at Medicana Hospital, Winchester.  

 

Professional Background

Mr Chessman began his surgical training in London, before completing higher surgical training in ENT surgery across the Wessex region (Hampshire).  

Mr Chessman undertook additional fellowship training in Advanced Otology, Hearing Implants, and Skull Base Surgery at St George’s Hospital, London. This refined his skills in managing complex ear and auditory disorders.

During his surgical training he was also awarded the prestigious Wessex School of Surgery Human Factors Fellowship and completed a Diploma in Legal Medicine, reflecting his commitment to patient-focused, evidence-based practice.  

In addition, Mr Chessman is actively involved in clinical research, contributing to the advancement of ENT care on a national level. He has a strong passion for medical education and plays an active role in supervising and mentoring junior surgical colleagues within the NHS.
