Mr Duncan Avis is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery. He graduated with Honours from the University of Bristol Medical School in 2004 and completed an MSc in Trauma Surgery. He subsequently undertook a prestigious British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, following the award of the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics).
He is one of a small number of hand surgeons to hold the British Diploma in Hand Surgery. His clinical interests include all aspects of hand and upper limb surgery, including elbow and shoulder surgery, with a particular focus on hand and wrist joint replacement, including thumb base and finger joint replacements for arthritis.
He maintains a busy elective practice, participates in the on-call trauma service, and is actively involved in teaching and research. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and an Associate Member of the BSSH.
