Professor Luff is one of the UK’s most respected eye surgeons, bringing over 35 years’ experience in Ophthalmology. He is a high-volume surgeon with over 15,000 vitrectomy procedures and more than 25,000 cataract or refractive lens procedures to his name. Trained initially at Oxford University and then Guy’s Hospital Medical School in London, he made the move to Ophthalmology in 1988, training at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Prof. Luff specialises in retinal and cataract surgery and is frequently referred complex cases, including issues like implant lens exchanges and ocular trauma. He was one of the first British surgeons to use intravitreal injections for conditions like AMD and remains an enthusiastic proponent of new technologies, such as Red Light Therapy for AMD. During his NHS tenure, he served as Clinical Service Director at Southampton General and helped establish the Chair of Ophthalmology there. He now works full-time in the private sector.
