About the Role

Medicana Winchester Clinic, part of the internationally recognized Medicana Health Group, is seeking a visionary leader to head our Diagnostic Imaging Department. This exciting role is open to either an experienced Radiology Manager or a Consultant Radiologist with proven leadership ability and a strong track record in clinical governance and business development.

The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across all imaging modalities, ensuring the delivery of world-class, patient-centered care. At the same time, they will be responsible for growing the service to the next level, strengthening referral networks, and ensuring financial sustainability — all while maintaining the highest standards of compliance with CQC, IR(ME)R 2017, and UK health regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership & Governance
    • Provide strong leadership and strategic direction for the Imaging Department.
    • Champion clinical governance, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance across all imaging services.
    • Ensure adherence to CQC, IR(ME)R, Health & Safety, and best practice standards.
    • Implement and maintain evidence-based imaging protocols.
  2. Service Growth & Business Development
    • Drive business development, creating and expanding referral networks with consultants, GPs, and external partners.
    • Develop strategies to grow imaging volumes and strengthen the clinic’s market position.
    • Support the launch of new imaging services and technologies, ensuring successful integration into clinical pathways.
    • Represent Medicana in developing relationships with key stakeholders, including sports, corporate, and private healthcare partners.
  3. Operational Management
    • Oversee all imaging modalities: MRI, CT, Ultrasound, X-ray, and any new services.
    • Manage departmental budgets, KPIs, and business performance.
    • Ensure optimal use and safe operation of diagnostic equipment.
    • Deliver operational efficiency while maintaining patient-centred care.
  4. Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead a multidisciplinary team of radiographers, sonographers, administrative staff, and clinical colleagues.
    • Recruit, train, and develop staff, ensuring high performance and professional conduct.
    • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  5. Collaboration & Innovation
    • Work closely with hospital leadership, consultants, and referring clinicians.
    • Drive innovation in imaging techniques and image-guided interventions.
    • Ensure service delivery meets patient expectations with consistently high satisfaction scores.

Candidate Profile

Option A: Radiology Manager

  • HCPC-registered Radiographer with a BSc in Radiography (postgraduate or management qualifications desirable).
  • Substantial experience managing diagnostic imaging services in acute care or private healthcare.
  • Strong background in clinical governance, quality assurance, and compliance.
  • Proven leadership and business development experience with measurable service growth.

Option B: Consultant Radiologist (Leadership Path)

  • GMC-registered Consultant Radiologist with broad imaging experience, ideally in MRI and CT.
  • Demonstrated leadership and governance responsibilities within imaging services.
  • Strong business acumen and experience building referral pathways or developing new services.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills, with ability to work across clinical and operational functions.

For Both Profiles

  • Extensive knowledge of UK radiology regulations, including CQC and IR(ME)R 2017.
  • Proven track record in business development and service expansion.
  • Excellent organisational, IT, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in budget and performance management.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in private healthcare or independent treatment centers.
  • MSc in Radiology Leadership, Healthcare Management, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of PACS/RIS systems and digital imaging workflows.
